BE AN ADVOCATE
LeadingAge Maine & New Hampshire tracks legislation and regulatory updates to make sure that policy makers understand how any changes will impact our members and the people they serve. For all issues, including those for which we currently hold no position, we are guided by these Policy Principles—foundational beliefs that are consistent with the mission and values of LeadingAge Maine & New Hampshire.
Because our members serve and work within multiple areas of long-term care services, advocacy perspectives may at times vary. Association policies and public policy positions, particularly those involving controversial issues, are developed through a thoughtful, open and deliberative process that allows input from all members. To learn more about our process, please review the LeadingAge Maine & New Hampshire Government Affairs Committee (GAC) Policies and Procedures.
The Association maintains both a Maine Government Affairs Committee (ME-GAC) and a New Hampshire Government Affairs Committee (NH-GAC)—each comprised of members with a dedicated interest in and knowledge of policy work. During the legislative session, the GACs meets bi-weekly or more frequently as necessary.
Would you like to address an organizational concern through legislative or policy advocacy? At any time, Association members may submit an Advocacy Action Request. The State GAC will review the request and make a recommendations to the LeadingAge Maine & New Hampshire Board of Directors, who make final decision as to Association positions.
Questions? Contact Lisa Henderson or the Chair of your State’s GAC.
